Board meeting was held at Pieksämäki on the 18th of October 2009. The topics for the meeting included planning for the general meeting in the next Summer, and board members also familiarised with the venue of the general meeting.

Vilho Ylönen

Chair

The surname Ylönen has similar origin as almost all Savonian (~ Savo) surnames. It used to stand for "son of Yllö" i.e., Yrjö. There is likely to be very distant ancestor Yllö whose sons have been called "sons of Yllö" i.e. Ylönen. For some reason this form transformed to surname. More information on history of the name Ylönen can be found in the Family paper "Ylölänmäkeläiset".
